We've partnered with the Rural Coordination Centre of BC to build rural research capacity across the region. A team at Comox Valley Hospital connects with rural physicians and communities to support research with Island Health, Vancouver Island University, the University of Victoria, and the University of British Columbia. They're also building relationships with First Nations Health Authority, the BC Network Environment for Indigenous Health Research, and Indigenous communities.
Currently, the team is supporting rural physicians on Vancouver Island to participate in a collaborative provincial training evaluation of virtual echocardiography technology. If adopted, this innovative model has the potential to increase equitable access to diagnostic testing in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities.
